Grenoble, the capital of the French Alps, is a university and scientific town surrounded with mountain. Photos below, taken in height, illustrate well this situation.

The city is in the valley in the shape of "Y". Far away is the chain of Belledone with the ski
resort" Chamrousse " on the summit below the small grey cloud. To the right the cliffs of
the vercors, the photo is taken in approximately 600 m of height. To the left, the "Chartreuse"
which comes to end at the foot of Grenoble.
La ville est dans la vallée en forme de "Y". Au fond se trouve la chaîne de Belledone
avec la station de ski "Chamrousse" sur le sommet juste en dessous du petit nuage gris.
A droite les falaises du vercors, la photo est prise à environ 600 m d'altitude. A gauche, la "Chartreuse" qui vient se terminer au pied de Grenoble.
Another point of seen from the high mountain pastures of Vercors, not far from Méaudre,
the height is approximately of 1500m. On the horizon, "Belledone" in the mist, upper left the Chartreuse, Grenoble appears in the valley.
Un autre point du vue à partir des alpages du Vercors, pas loin de Méaudre, l'altitude est
environ de 1500m. Au fond, "Belledone" dans la brune, en haut à gauche la Chartreuse,
on apperçoit Grenoble dans la vallée.
